Cabo Tomato Halter

Temperatures here in Philadelphia have risen to a whopping 50 degrees, so I thought why not start thinking Spring. Amy Butler’s Cabo Halter Raising Cain full

definitely fits the bill. Doesn’t Cabo sound nice right about now?

Alana did a lovely job with the sewing, and Jay McCarroll’s Garden Friends tomato fabric is adorable. I love how the color is very wearable, and the print makes it fun and whimsical. The a-line shape is flattering, and I think it would be very easy to extend the line of the skirt into a full dress. So cute!

This is a great project for a seamstress trying her hand at garment sewing. If you’ve made a few skirts and are ready for more pattern pieces, you should definitely give it a try. It’ll be Spring before you know it!Fragile movie download Little Nicky movies Grumpy Old Men

Blueberry Fields Quilt

You’re invited to a party! A Stitch Party, that is! What might this Stitch Party be, you ask? In conjunction with our sister store Loop, we are hosting a monthly get together to show & tell about our projects, meet other crafters, and have fun! This is a great chance to reconnect with people you may have met in our classes, and see what everyone’s been making. Our first party is January 30th from 5-8 PM, and we have a fantastic surprise – Jay McCarroll will be joining us!!

Jay is the first season winner of Project Runway, and now has 2 new quilting lines on the market, Garden Friends and Woodland Wonderland. Lucky for us, Jay hails from Philadelphia, and stopped by to check out his fabric on our shelves. Jay is super nice, and when I asked him about coming to Stitch Party, he happily accepted! He’ll be bringing samples that he’s made with his fabrics, and there will be prizes and goody bags. This is a rare opportunity to meet a talented artist and designer right in your own backyard. Jay is full of creative ideas and is so fun to talk to – don’t be nervous!

So, bring your latest project ( mine is the quilt pictured above made with Jay’s fabrics), have a glass of wine, and meet Jay! See you soon!

Christopher's Beginning Quilt

If one of your New Year’s resolutions was to make more time for sewing, let us help you keep it! A new session of Beginning Quilting

starts this Thursday. In our six week course, you will learn to piece 3 different blocks and assemble your quilt top with borders. Then you will layer and baste your quilt, in preparation for hand quilting. You will leave class with a finished lap sized quilt that makes a great baby gift, wall hanging, or sofa throw.

The gorgeous quilt pictured above was made by Christopher, and recently gifted to his parents for the holidays. Christopher reported that they loved it and couldn’t believe that he made it himself! You can check out these photos for more quilt class inspiration. If you’d like to join us, please call the shop to reserve your space. See you soon!

Garden Friends

Garden Friends

The playful Garden Friends collection just arrived from Philly’s own Jay McCarroll. Project Runway fans will remember Jay as being the show’s first season winner. We got a chance to meet Jay at the Houston Quilt Market, where he introduced his new quilting line for Westminster Fibers. His booth as so much fun and we even met the 1970′s ceramic deer that he says inspired his designs. As you can guess, we were quite taken with Jay, the deer, and all his Garden Friends!

Rusty oranges and limey greens are 2 of my favorite color families, and Jay delivers a fine sampling of both! The retro vibe is fantastic, and the little animals are just too cute. I am already working on a baby quilt in the blue range, and have set aside 3 yards of the sweet strawberry fabric for a spring dress. Fat quarter bundles are ready to roll in both shops. Have fun with your new friends!
