2 Birds

Thank you to everyone that commented, emailed and called about our bird mobile. I’m so glad that you love these little guys as much as we do! The pattern is now available as a downloadable pdf in our sidebar, just in time for the long weekend.

Spool will be closed Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. We are open our regular hours of 11-6 Saturday and Sunday. Have a great weekend!

Laura, these are adorable. I will have to make a couple just to play with. It’s generous of Spool to share the pattern. Thank you.

I just came over here from your flickr, but I am really impressed with your beautiful work on the pretty birdies and your niceness to share the pattern with us! Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for the pattern! I was trying to figure out when I could get it, so I could get the pattern. . .trust me, I know that’s not all I’ll get when I finally see your store!

(I meant, when I could get IN, not it. Sheesh!)

Completely adorable. The fabric is perfect for these sweet little birdies. Thank you!

Thanks so much for sharing this pattern! I’ve tried a few times to invent one myself, but never got results as adorable as yours! Also, I’m desperate to know the name of the yellow fabric with the black designs – I love it!

Laura June 2, 2008 at 9:10 am

Hi SWC,

The fabric is called Zazu by Tina Givens. The black designs are drawings of chandeliers. It’s one of my favorites!

I’m wondering if it’s better to cut out the pattern on the bias?

Thanks for sharing this pattern – I couldn’t resist having a go. I think they will look great on next year’s ‘Easter tree’ – a branch cut from the garden hung with blown and painted eggs. In the meantime I’m having fun perching them in different places around the house and garden to amuse the children (ok, to amuse myself!).

Thank you so much for the pattern! I hope to make two or three of these!

Many thanks for sharing such a wonderful and easy to follow pattern!
Thanks also for accepting my membership to the Spool Bird Softies group over at Flickr!
I’m wondering if you would mind if I send the birdie I made to the Softies for Mirabel – 2008 Appeal. It’s a charity project and you can get more details of it from the flickr group of the same name.

I am here making a few of your birds! I had fun using more special fabrics because the pieces are so small! I pulled out a couple of bird fabrics, and am also incorporating lavender inside! They smell wonderful and look even cuter! Can’t wait to post pics on flickr!
Thanks for the pattern, I love it!

This bird pattern is fantastic ! I’ve made 4 birds so far, and they’ve turned out brilliant. Are there going to be any more free patterns please ?!?!?!?!?

Laura July 5, 2008 at 9:11 am

Hi Weirdbunny- We will be offering more patterns in the future, so just sit tight!

I’m glad everyone is enjoying the pattern so much!

Thanks so much for the bird pattern! My mom had the idea this weekend to make them as Christmas ornaments and to give them as gifts! I’m so excited to start!

It also distracted her from her first idea that I was pregnant and wanted to make a mobile for my (or her’s rather) imaginary child!

I love these little birds! I have been making them like crazy, in fact, I’ve recruited our women’s group to make some white ones to put on our memorial tree for all the people in the church who’ve passed away. thank you so much for sharing the pattern. I wish I were closer (I’m in NC), I would LOVE to visit your store.
